Description

The 'Verdronken Weide' is a 40-hectare nature reserve near the West-Flemish city of Ypres. The area contains a deep pool with densely vegetated banks. There are also grasslands with varying water levels. You can make a circular walk around the area and there is a bird hide. Among the birds you can find in the area are (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια, Ποταμοσφυριχτής, Σχοινοποταμίδα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα, Βαρβάρα, Πετρίτης. Bar-headed Goose Canada Goose, Αργυροτσικνιάς, (Κοινός) Λευκοτσικνιάς and Ψαλίδα (του Βορά).

Nederlands: De Verdronken Weide is een natuurgebied van 40 hectare nabij de West-Vlaamse stad Ieper. Een mooie plek om watervogels, reigerachtige, ganzen en eenden te spotten. Ook zangers vind je hier terug. In het gebied bevindt zich een diepe plas met dicht begroeide oevers. Ook zijn er graslanden met wisselende waterstanden. In het gebied komen meer dan 160 vogelsoorten voor. Je kunt om het gebied heen wandelen en er is een vogelkijkhut. Vogels die je in het gebied kunt aantreffen zijn (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια, Ποταμοσφυριχτής, Σχοινοποταμίδα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα, Βαρβάρα, Πετρίτης. Access

It is very close from Ieper/Ypres (1 km from the town hall). You can park on the edge of the bird area or next to the spots fields. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 3 km long

Nederlands: Het gebied ligt dichtbij het centrum van Ieper (1 km van het stadhuis). Parkeren kan aan de rand van het vogelgebied of naar de sportvelden. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar die laatste. De rondwandeling die op de kaart is aangegeven is ongeveer 3 km lang.
