Description
The Dragositschacher Bucht is a beautiful area next to the Drau river, consisting of a wide variety of habitats. The main area consists of several ponds and reedbeds. On the southern edge, the area is bordered by a small forested area, and on the northern side, the Drau river is located. The area is great for observing waterbirds, which winter here in large numbers. Species like Γκισάρι, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια, (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα and (Βουβός) Κύκνος can be seen in large numbers. Rarer species, like Νανοπρίστης, Χηνοπρίστης and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα, can mainly be observed in winter here. On several spots, groups of Ασημόγλαρος της Μεσογείου, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κορμοράνος and Καστανοκέφαλος Γλάρος rest on the shorelines.
During the breeding season, the reedbeds are great for many species of songbird, like (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο, Βαλτοποταμίδα, Καλαμοποταμίδα and Τσιχλοποταμίδα. Also larger species, like (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα and (Κοκκινόλαιμο) Νανοβουτηχτάρι, breed here. The open shorelines with pebbles are great for Ποταμοσφυριχτής.
Just after the breeding season, large flocks of Υφάντρα tend to be seen here. They forage in the lower levels of the reedbeds, and sometimes popup to give a show.

Access
The area is easy accessible from two sides: on the western side you can observe the area from a path, and a birding hide is present. On the eastern side, the area is accessible by walking around on sanded paths. At the parking spot, you need to enter an extraction area which doesn't look accessible, but eventually you'll find a path that leads you to the main reedbed area. Just follow the path on the map.
