Natural wetland area that comes to life in the winter months.
During winter, Horse Swamp is alive with water birds, including Black Swan which annually visit the Park to raise their cygnets. In particularly wet winters, the Swamp waters may overflow, forming a tributary of Bennett Brook.
The Werillyiup bush trail (2,5 km) skirts the edges of Horse Swamp, allowing spectacular panoramic views of the wetland and its associated birdlife.
Horse Swamp is found within Whiteman Park, 25 minutes from Perth CBD. The park is free entry andopen from 08:30 - 18:00. There are multiple entrance points, Drumpellier Dr, Beechboro Rd and Dulwhich St. There is a large carpark near the gate on the west side of the wetland. Press P on the map for directions to the carpark.
