Description

Collins Road runs through beautiful Wandoo woodland and is a 'go-to' location for the 'hard to find' Western Shrike-tit. This area is believed to be the closest breeding site to Perth for Blue-breasted Fairywren. It also boasts an abundance of Rufous Treecreeper, and you can frequently spot Restless Flycatcher and Western Yellow Robin.

Unless wishing to be restricted to walking along Collins Road itself birders will need to walk the woodlands 'off track' and often out of sight of recognisable landmarks - use of a compass is advised.

A suggested approach might be to walk NW from the 'dirt' parking area up the slope to reach a 4WD track (rough location indicated on the map), then proceed SW along the track for a few hundred metres, then walk SE downslope to cross Collins Road, then walk NE parallel to the road to regain the parking area.
