Huguenot Memorial Park is an oceanfront city park In Jacksonville. The beach is an important breeding and resting area for terns, gulls and shorebirds. The birds feed and rest on the beach and the exposed mud flats. A portion of Huguenot Park is designated as a critical wildlife area for nesting terns and shorebirds. It is roped off to protect these nesters during the breeding season.

Among the birds you can encounter are Red Knot, Lesser Black-backed Gull, American Oystercatcher, Black-bellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover, Piping Plover, Wilson's Plover, Whimbrel, Willet, Short-billed Dowitcher, Least Sandpiper, Reddish Egret, Osprey, Forster's Tern, Least Tern, Royal Tern, Caspian Tern and Black Skimmer.

In winter Glaucous Gull and Iceland Gull are regularly recorded. Look offshore for Northern Gannet, Greater Scaup and Red-breasted Merganser from late fall through early spring. Rarities recorded include Bar-tailed Godwit, Razorbill, Lapland Longspur and Snow Bunting.

Huguenot Memorial Park is located at 10980 Heckscher Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32226. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking. Park Admission Fees: Pedestrian and bicycle entry (6 a.m. - Close): $ 3. Vehicle entry (up to six people and $ 1 each additional person, 6 a.m. - Close): $ 5.

Hours of Operation: March - November: 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. the day prior to Daylight Savings Time change. November - March: 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. the day prior to Eastern Standard Time change. Memorial Day weekend - Labor Day: 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday, and 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Holidays. Nature Center Hours: 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily during the season, and 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays during the off-season.
