There are also Stockente, Kanadagans , Reiherente , Schellente, Austernfischer, Tafelente , Mandarinente, Höckerschwan and ocasional Nilgans .

In summer, Uferschwalbe , Mehlschwalbe and Rauchschwalbe are flying over water.

Resident species in the woodland include Buchfink , Kleiber , Waldbaumläufer , Zaunkönig , Buntspecht , Waldkauz and other. Summer visitors will include Mönchsgrasmücke , Fitis , Grauschnäpper and Teichrohrsänger .

Zugang

The lake is about 5km west of Macclesfield and can be easily reached by car. There is a car park at the south end with a picnic area (click P on the map for directions). At weekends there is usually a coffee or icecream van parked here for refreshments.

There is a footpath along the east side that can also be continued through to Capesthorne Hall for a longer route, or it can be enjoyed from the picnic area whilst sat in your car or on a bench with a view of the lake. A walk to the north end of the lake and back will take about an hour and half at a leisurely birding pace.
