Beschreibung
Montrose Basin is an enclosed estuary of the river South Esk covering 750 hectares, home to over 80,000 migratory birds – including Kurzschnabelgans, Küstenseeschwalbe, Knutt and Schilfrohrsänger. The area is flat. This tidal basin is an important roosting and feeding area for a variety of passage migrants, and is internationally important for breeding Eiderente and wintering waders and wildfowl. The Montrose Basin Visitor Centre is easy to find. From the visitor centre you can observe the Uferschwalbe (Apr to Aug) and other birds all day long. When the tide is high you can see many seabirds and waders close by.
