During autumn bird migration many bird visit or cross the area. Raptors and other soaring birds use the coastal mountain range to move south. Various species of herons and other waterfowl are attracted by the water of the river and the nearby coastal salt marshes. Like Schwarzstorch, Rallenreiher, Nachtreiher and Spornkiebitz In the early morning reedbeds and big trees can be full of birds. Big trees often contain resting raptors, such as Schelladler or Schreiadler. Most raptors pas overhead, sometimes at considerable hight, but a drive into the mountains can bring you closer. We spent most of our time checking bushes and marshes around the river mouth and saw many passing raptors like Zwergadler, Steppenweihe, Adlerbussard and Schlangenadler anyway.

With your car you can drive towards the riverside. Walk along the river banks towards the mouth of the river. There are many small roads and unpaved roads you can follow.
