Beschreibung
From August to October, numerous thermal gliding birds can be observed passing through the skies around Gurten. The best time is late August and early September. Then large numbers of Wespenbussard are possible. With a bit of luck, Schwarzstorch will also pass by. Other regular species are: Mäusebussard, Sperber, Habicht, Turmfalke, Baumfalke, Rotmilan, Schwarzmilan, Fischadler, Wiesenweihe, Rohrweihe and Weißstorch. In later autumn large flocks of Ringeltaube pass by. From time to time Alpensegler can be observed on food flights.

Zugang
The Gurten hill is located directly south of Bern city center. The best way is to take the Gurtenbahn funicular that runs from the city to the Gurten. From there it is only a 10 minutes walk to the viewing and observation point.
