In winter, the water level of the Ermatinger Becken sinks and a large shallow water basin is formed. A large number of waterfowl and waders spend the winter there. The area is always good for surprises. Annually, the following birds are observed in the area: Singschwan, Zwergschwan, Großer Brachvogel, Dunkler Wasserläufer, Spießente, Alpenstrandläufer, Bergpieper, and many more.
