Beschreibung
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, Seeadler, Steinschmätzer, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Rotschenkel, Austernfischer, Kampfläufer, Großer Brachvogel, Uferschnepfe, Säbelschnäbler and Alpenstrandläufer, but also other species such as Zwergseeschwalbe, Raubseeschwalbe and Küstenseeschwalbe. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Weißwangengans can be seen in the area.
