The Långfjället Nature Reserve is one of Sweden’s largest. The highest peak is Storvätteshogna, at 1204 m. It has areas of pure primeval forest without traces of forestry. On the moutain plateau it is lovely walking with plenty of birds on top and in dales. Lots of Alpenschneehuhn, Wiesenpieper, Goldregenpfeifer and Steinschmätzer. You also find Unglückshäher (in the coniferous forest) and Grünschenkel (around small bog areas in the forest). And along the streams and rivers the Wasseramsel is a common sight. In the lakes and streams you can find ducks like Krickente, Schellente and Prachttaucher.You can also encounter moose, foxes, martens and brown bears.
