Parque de la Viesca is located next to one of the most industrial towns in Cantabria, the Viesca park but has managed to recover very positively, like the Besaya River, thanks to being a "Natural Area of Special Interest". The Besaya River, once heavily polluted, is now home to otters and other species that are indicators of good water quality. The Besaya greenway crosses the park surrounded by a small riverside wood that is the residence of Gimpel, Schwanzmeise and Kohlmeise, among others. The river is home to birds typical of environments like this, such as Eisvogel and Wasseramsel. It is also possible to see raptors such as Mäusebussard or Turmfalke flying over.

Espagnol: El parque de la Viesca se encuentra situado en las afueras de la ciudad de Torrelavega y comprende un bosquecillo de rivera que resulta de especial interés. Siendo un espacio que se encuentra junto a una de las poblaciones más industriales de Cantabria, el parque de la Viesca ha logrado recuperarse muy positivamente, al igual que el Río Besaya, gracias a ser un "Área Natural de Especial Interés". El Río Besaya, antaño muy contaminado, es ahora hogar para nutrias y otras especies que son grandes indicadores de la buena calidad del agua. La vía verde del Besaya atraviesa el parque rodeada por un bosquecillo de rivera que es residencia de Gimpel, Schwanzmeise y Kohlmeise, entre otros. El entorno del río acoge otras aves propias de ambientes como éste, tales como los famosos Eisvogel o el Wasseramsel. También es posible ver el parque sobrevolado por rapaces como Mäusebussard o Turmfalke.

Access could hardly be easier. Not only does it have several places to park your car (click on a P in the map for directions), but since it is close to a town like Torrelavega it is possible to arrive by train or bus a short distance from the park. The paths are also very easy to navigate.

Espagnol: El acceso difícilmente podría ser más sencillo. No solo cuenta con varios lugares donde aparcar el coche, sino que al estar cerca de un núcleo como Torrelavega es posible llegar en tren o autobús a escasa distancia del parque. Los caminos son también muy fáciles de recorrer.
