Despite its small size La Marjal dels Moros is home to some large bird populations of several species, including seriously endangered species. One of the highlights in springtime are the flocks of different types of wading birds that come here to breed, including colonies of Flußseeschwalbe, Zwergseeschwalbe, Rotflügel-Brachschwalbe, Weißbart-Seeschwalbe and Stelzenläufer. There is also a large breeding population of Kolbenente, which is increasingly rare in Valencia. The Marmelente is another endangered species that breeds here, and the Marjal marks its northernmost location in Europe. In wintertime you can see large flocks of Seidenreiher and Löffelente, as well as spectacular gatherings of Kormoran, and it is not uncommon to see Rosaflamingo, Silberreiher or Sichler. Other nice birds you can see include Rohrweihe, Zwergtaucher, Teichhuhn, Purpurhuhn and Eisvogel.
