La Contraparada del río Segura is an easily accessible place to walk along the river Segura. It combines the landscape of riverside forest, reed beds and orchards, which allows observing a variety of species in a short tour. Among the birds you can see are Pirol, Rauchschwalbe, Mehlschwalbe, Uferschwalbe, Rötelschwalbe, Felsenschwalbe, Mauersegler, Fahlsegler, Zilpzalp, Hausrotschwanz, Buchfink, Kohlmeise, Mönchsgrasmücke, Samtkopf-Grasmücke, Schwanzmeise, Eisvogel, Bläßhuhn, Teichhuhn, Stockente, Kormoran, Graureiher, Nachtreiher, Seidensänger, Nachtigall, Schilfrohrsänger, Wellenastrild, Isabellspötter, Singdrossel, Haussperling, Grauschnäpper, Stieglitz, Rotkehlchen, Wiedehopf and Turmfalke.

The area can be accessed from two towns of Javalí Nuevo and Javalí Viejo, following the directions on the signs that indicate how to get to the Contraparada. It has an area to park the car in a dirt parking lot next to the Segura riverbed.
