Cerro de la Culebra is a small mountain range that belongs to the Natura 2000 Network for its environmental and ornithological values. From the village you can walk up to the castle and have fantastic views of the surroundings and the reservoir Embalse de Alange. The area has many different of habitats and therefore many bird species can be spotted. Among these we can highlight the presence of Steinadler, Gänsegeier and Habichtsadler. But also Uhu, Alpensegler and Kolkrabe. The passerine community that uses the area is also very rich and diverse. See the birdlist below.

Espagnol: El Cerro de la Culebra, es una pequeña sierra cercana a la localidad de Alange y coronada por un castillo de origen musulman. Esta pequeña sierra pertenece a la Red Natura 2000 catálogada como Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves (ZEPA) cullo nombre es: Sierras Centrales y Embalse de Alange declarado como tal por sus valorea ambientales y ornitológicos. Es un espacio de gran interés dada la concentración de hábitats y taxones que en él se pueden encontrar.
Otro detalle a considerar es el valor de los roquedos. Estos son utilizados por algunas especies como zonas para instalar sus nidos. No se puede olvidar la escasez de estos nichos en un espacio isla situado entre las Vegas de la zona norte y la Tierra de Barros. Las peculiaridades ecológicas del espacio protegido han favorecido la presencia de una rica avifauna. Entre estas podemos destacar la presencia de Steinadler, Gänsegeier o el Habichtsadler . La comunidad de paseriformes que usa el espacio es también muy rica y diversa.

To visit Cerro de la Culebra and go up to its castle, you have to get to the town of Alange. Once there, get to Calle del Castillo (very close to the entrance of the town). This street is a good option to leave the car and begin the climb up the hill on foot. The first meters are more or less steep, after that the route runs through the mountains on a fairly flat path. There is a circular route that where you walk in the sun and a route where you walk in the shade of the mountains. You can choose the option you prefer.

Espagnol: Para visitar el Cerro de la Culebra y subir hasta su castillo, hay que llegar hasta la localidad de Alange, una vez allí, llegar hasta la calle del Castillo (muy cercana a la entrada del municipio). Esta calle, es una buena opción para dejar el cohe y comenzar apie la subida al cerro. Los primeros metros son de subida más o menos fuerte, una vez alcanzada una cuota, la ruta discurre por la sierra por un camino bastante llano. Existe una ruta circular que discurreo por la solana y por la umbría de la sierra pudiendo elegir la opción que se desee.

The town and its surroundings are worth a visit or stay. In Alange there is a Spa that dates back to Roman times, the reservoir (Embalse de Alange) and its dam, also have ornithological values of interest.
