An urban park and gardens in Singapore. Spanning 105 hectares with lakes and ponds. The gardens are a magnet for birdlife.
Gardens by the Bay is designed as a series of large tropical leaf-shaped gardens, each with its own specific landscaping design, character and theme. The gardens are free to enter and the large area of different plant life attract a host of species such as Black-naped Oriole, Common Flameback, Pink-necked Green-Pigeon, Large-tailed Nightjar, Sunda Pygmy Woodpecker, Pied Triller, Olive-backed Sunbird and numerous other species. It is a very pleasant area to walk around and quite possible to leave most of the crowd behind by visiting the outer reaches of the gardens. There are several places to purchase food and drink as it can be very hot.
The Gardens by the Bay (GBTB) is an urban park in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Many parts of the gardens are free to visit, but for some parts you have to pay an entrance fee (see for more info the link below).
Accessible by public transport and best explored on foot. Getting there is easy with by MRT: Take the Circle Line or Downtown Line to Bayfront MRT Station (indicated by 1 on the map). Use Exit B and follow the underground linkway to Gardens by the Bay. By Bus: Bus routes 97, 106, 133, and 502 stop at Marina Bay Sands, a short walk from Gardens by the Bay. Bus route 400 stops directly outside the main entrance of Gardens by the Bay. By Car: There are several car parks available at Gardens by the Bay. Press a P on the map for directions.
If bird photography is your thing it would be easy to spend a whole day there, or as I did visit it several times. New things appear in places already observed.
