Beschreibung
Fruska Gora National Park is about 80 kilometres long and some 10 km wide. Forest covers 90 per cent of the national park, one third of it lime, also oak and beech, hornbeam and ash. Lower slopes are overgrown by grassland, orchards and vineries.
Birdwise, 150 species were recorded in the park proper (going up to 210 with lower slopes): Schwarzstorch, Wespenbussard, Schlangenadler, Schreiadler, Wanderfalke, Turteltaube, Schleiereule, Waldkauz, Sumpfohreule, Kleinspecht, Mittelspecht, Blutspecht and Schwarzspecht, Neuntöter, Waldbaumläufer, Waldlaubsänger, Halsbandschnäpper, European Trauerschnäpper, Baumpieper, Ortolan, Kernbeißer and, in some years, also Kappenammer.
The added attraction of the park is the presence of large mammals such as golden jackal, wildcat, roe deer (common) and the recently reintroduced red deer (still uncommon).
