Lacu Sărat lies in the south-west of Brăila town. The lake has a high water salinity and is surrounded by forest. It attracts many birds in any season. The presence of a high number of aquatic and terrestrial species throughout both migration periods and breeding season or in wintertime means makes Lake Sărat a good place for birding. Spring and fall migration are the peak moments for migratory aquatic birds and waders. Among the nice birds you can see are Brandgans, Kiebitzregenpfeifer, Seidenreiher, Weißbart-Seeschwalbe, Ziegenmelker, Schwarzkopfmöwe and Wiedehopf.
