Beschreibung

Lagoa Pequena consists of one man-made freshwater lagoon and a natural seawater lagoon. There are four hides, one with tower. Marsh willows, reeds, wooded areas and a small creek in a protected area perfect for birdwatching. The Lagoa Pequena is one of the largest wetlands of Portugal. Birds you can see here include Zwergtaucher, Ringschnabelente, Purpurhuhn, Eisvogel, Bläßhuhn, Schnatterente, Seidensänger, Fischadler, Wiedehopf and Wellenastrild. As a bonus, you could also see European polecats, genets and river otters. Note that the site is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and public holidays, see the info below.

Zugang

Lagoa Pequena is located 45 km south of Lisbon. Opening hours: Summer (15 June to 15 September): Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 12:30 and from 14.00 to 18:30. Last admission: 17:30. Winter (September 16 to June 14): Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00. Last entry: 16:00. Note: Closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and public holidays.

The access is made by car. Click on the P in the map for directions. There’s plenty of place to park. Free parking, then walking only (furthest hide ~500 m). Four different trails. Free entry, possible to book tours. Paid guided tour every last Saturday of month. Some areas may be flooded.
