Beschreibung
At Foz do rio Sizandro the Sizandro River flows into the sea after forming a tiny estuary. An interesting place for birdwatching where many birds can be seen. The most accessible side is located on the south bank, being possible to park at the base of the cliff and cross to the north side via a pedestrian bridge. The area closest to the mouth is usually frequented by seagulls. Further upstream, the banks of the river are frequented by Seeregenpfeifer which can nest in the nearby dunes. As the river course rises, the riverside vegetation becomes denser and provides shelter to other species of waterfowl, such as Nachtigall. On the north side of the estuary, between the course of the river and the dune cord, there is a pond where, in winter, you can see Bergpieper. In this place can also be seen the Bluthänfling. The surrounding agricultural fields are frequented by several land birds, such as Wiedehopf, Turmfalke and Iberienraubwürger. Best season : September to April.
