Beschreibung
This spot is located 30 km north of Porto on the northern riverside of Ave estuary, where on low tide some mudflats become accessible for birds to forage. There is a nearby dock where gulls congregate. There (and looking from there to the southern river side), it's possible to spot Mittelmeermöwe (all year around) but it particularly pays off to keep and eye on gulls during winter since it's possible to find Heringsmöwe, Lachmöwe, Schwarzkopfmöwe, Sturmmöwe and Mantelmöwe. On the mudflats it's easy to spot Steinwälzer and Flußuferläufer. During migration the mudflats serve as a stopover site for waders and it's possible to spot Großer Brachvogel, Pfuhlschnepfe and Uferschnepfe. On the trees and garden spaces its possible to find Amsel, Rotkehlchen, Stieglitz, Mönchsgrasmücke, Kohlmeise, Girlitz and Haubenlerche, to name just a few.
