Beschreibung

Ørin nature reserve is part of the Trondheimsfjorden wetland system. The site covers an area of about 200 hectares and is located on the south side of the outlet to Verdalselva river into the Trondheimsfjorden between E6 and the industrial park in Verdal. The outflow of the Verdal river is the only major, somewhat intact river delta in North Trøndelag's part of the Trondheim Fjord. The reserve is dominated by thorny bushes, as well as a beach meadow area towards the pier at the estuary. Bordering Ørin nature reserve is the Kausmofjæra beach bird conservation area. Ørin with Kausmofjæra beach and surrounding areas are Trøndelag's richest location for migratory birds and waders. For waders the best time is August and September. There are over 200 species of birds recorded here and many in fairly substantial numbers. Ørin is also a valuable nesting ground, moulting site and wintering ground for many bird species. Among the birds you can see are Mittelsäger, Schellente, Eiderente, Pfeifente, Samtente, Trauerente, Eisente, Sandregenpfeifer, Pfuhlschnepfe, Alpenstrandläufer, Austernfischer, Großer Brachvogel, Kurzschnabelgans (April, May and October), Mantelmöwe, Goldammer and Taigabirkenzeisig.
