Water from the dunes runs towards the south point of Texel. Het Grote Vlak consists of a few lakes in this water course.

Beschreibung

Het Grote Vlak often holds a lot of ducks ( Löffelente , Schnatterente , Spießente , Brandgans , Pfeifente and in spring Knäkente ), gulls and grebes. Sometimes waders, like Uferschnepfe , are abundant and few songbirds, like Bergpieper and Schwarzkehlchen (sometimes even Blaukehlchen ), can be found. The area is also good for finding Hohltaube , Steinschmätzer and in winter Raufußbussard .

Zugang

Het Grote Vlak is easily accessible from the village of Den Hoorn towards the beach. You can park on the roadside, but try to give way to cyclists on the parallel cycle path.
