Spring and autumn are best for this oasis. Passerines include Maurensteinschmätzer, Rotkopfwürger, Weißohrbülbül, Haubenlerche, Samtkopf-Grasmücke, Östliche Orpheusgrasmücke and Brillengrasmücke. Wetland birds include 3 species of egret, Tüpfelsumpfhuhn, Kleines Sumpfhuhn, Wachtelkönig, Nachtreiher, Purpurreiher and Rallenreiher, Schwarzstorch and Weißstorch. In the surrounding desert there may be Wachtel, Triel, Gänsegeier, Steppenweihe, Habichtsadler, Einödgimpel, Desert Owl and Tristram's Starling. There is a raised walkway, hides and a cycle track.

By road the site is 70 miles east of Amman, where day tours, car hire and taxi hire are available. Advice is to carry plenty of water and avoid midday heat. The cycle route is 12 km and the raised walkway 3/4 of a km.
