Biotopo del Taio is a marshy area of 4.5 hectares surrounded by green vineyards. Among the birds that have been observed over the years are Zwergdommel, Rohrdommel, Eisvogel, Drosselrohrsänger, Bläßhuhn, Teichhuhn, Stockente, Graureiher, Purpurreiher, Silberreiher, Zwergtaucher, Haubentaucher and Grünspecht. The place always delivers interesting observations both of the species that nest and of those passing through. Not rare are the encounters with birds of prey such as Schwarzmilan, Mäusebussard and Turmfalke which are concentrated more in the surrounding countryside.

Unfortunately the observation tower was recently put out of use by vandals (winter 2021). We hope that it will be put back in order as soon as possible.
