Beschreibung
Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Taigabirkenzeisig, Rotdrossel and Zaunkönig. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like Buchfink, Bergfink and Gimpel have been seen in the past.
The rocky parts are particular good for Alpenschneehuhn. The area is also used as hunting ground by Gerfalke.
The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like Spatelente, Bergente, Odinshühnchen, Mittelsäger and Eisente.
