Beschreibung

The 77 km big Lake Balaton is located on the migration route for wetland birds, and the 562 hectares Tihany peninsula is a pinchpoint allowing the best viewing. The peninsula is a nature reserve with hills, marshy meadows and two lakes. The Inner Lake (Belső-tó) is almost in the centre of the peninsula but is heavily used by anglers and most of the time of little interest for birds. The Outer Lake (Külső-tó) is to the northwest is largely reed-covered and has breeding Zwergdommel, Purpurreiher, Rohrweihe, Knäkente and Moorente as well as warblers. Rarer birds in the area include Adlerbussard, Rotfußfalke, Zwergsäger, Nachtigall, Steppenmöwe, Zwergscharbe, Rothalstaucher, Mittelspecht and Beutelmeise.
