The road between Mavria and Platania is a great road to stop and drive along, and to observe many local breeding species, like Olivenspötter, Östliche Orpheusgrasmücke and Weißbart-Grasmücke. The small houses and farms a worth a check for Steinkauz, and the scattered trees are perfect for Heidelerche. The scrubs and bushes are great for many species of shrike, like Rotkopfwürger and Maskenwürger. The rocky outcrops are great for Felsenkleiber and Grauortolan.
During migration, the area is worth to check for species like Blauracke, Bienenfresser and Pirol. Raptors are always present, and tend to hang around the hill tops, like Adlerbussard.
