Beschreibung
The salt marshes and the sandbank at Westerheversand represent very diverse habitats. Many waders such as the Alpenstrandläufer, Austernfischer, Rotschenkel can be observed. On the sandbank, a particularly large number of gulls and other resting birds can be seen. Notable are the Pfuhlschnepfe, Sandregenpfeifer, Seeregenpfeifer, Brandseeschwalbe, Zwergseeschwalbe, Knutt, Seeadler and others.
The warft with lighthouse is a fixed point for migratory birds during migration, so that some songbirds can also be observed here.
