Beschreibung
Usedomer Strand is located near Peenemünde. From the beach you can easily observe migrating and resting birds. In winter, the Baltic Sea is full of sea ducks (like Trauerente, Eisente, Samtente, Bergente) divers (like Haubentaucher, , Rothalstaucher) and swans. Loons (Sterntaucher, Prachttaucher) migrate across the Baltic Sea.
In spring, groups of songbirds fly parallel to the dune forest to their breeding areas. From August onwards, individual Limikols (such as Sanderling, Alpenstrandläufer, Knutt, Austernfischer) are on the beach and terns are on the water. From the smallest (Zwergseeschwalbe) to the largest (Raubseeschwalbe) everything is possible. In late autumn the geese (Bläßgans, Weißwangengans, Tundrasaatgans) fly to their resting areas. Seeadler is often observed in this area.
