Beschreibung
Only really worth visiting if you live in Holzgerlingen or are desperate for some birding while in Holzgerlingen. Schloss Kalteneck has a pair of town-famous (captive, don't report on eBird) Höckerschwan. A pair of Stockente are often seen in the small pond, and I did once see an Nilgans pair for a couple days. Gebirgsstelze have been seen, albeit only a couple of times.
Leaving the pond if you continue straight you will follow a path that leads you between gardens, where most of the common birds can be seen. Kohlmeise, Blaumeise, Amsel, Haussperling, Buchfink, Hausrotschwanz, Rabenkrähe, Mäusebussard, Rotmilan, Elster, Rotkehlchen, Stieglitz, Grünfink, and Ringeltaube can all be commonly seen here, though some only during Spring. In winter I have seen Wintergoldhähnchen, Schwanzmeise, and Kernbeißer. Less commonly seen at this location are Zaunkönig, Wacholderdrossel, Feldsperling, Buntspecht, Mittelspecht, Gartenrotschwanz, and Eichelhäher. Some of these I have only seen once.
Through and past the gardens if you follow the trail all the way it reaches a bend that will lead you to some fields sparsely populated with trees. You can also walk down hills on the garden path to get here faster. Here many of the same birds can be found, though Turmfalke, Rotmilan, Mäusebussard, Rabenkrähe, and Elster are more common. Dohle can also be spotted down here, and female Gartenrotschwanz are sometimes seen on perches. If you follow the main path down here, it will eventually lead along the Aich river and to a recreational area, where the hotspot "ends" (a road splits the land here, ending the park). If you go right at the area with the bird statues, you will avoid the recreational area and instead find yourself at a small stream coming off the main Aich river (basically already a stream in Holzgerlingen). This stream is sometimes home to Mönchsgrasmücke, Heckenbraunelle, Schwanzmeise, Kohlmeise, Amsel, Elster, and Turmfalke, though many times it's just you and the insects.

Zugang
If you are looking to access the park from the Schloss Kalteneck side, you can enter through there, at Schlossstraße. There is a small parking lot there as well. There is also a way in from Klemmertstraße, off Tübinger Straße, that will lead you down Im Brühl, the main path in the valley. Here you can follow to the end of the path or to the small Aich stream. You can also take the rest of Klemmertstraße to Schloss Kalteneck.
You can explore on foot or with a bike, though the walk is easy and walking is the best option. You may be able to drive (unsure who is allowed to) but it isn't worth it at all, you won't see anything. The trip can be quite short, and you can turn back whenever.

This is the town's main park, so remember there will be non-birders here too, especially on weekends, Friday evenings, and holidays.
There are bird boxes near the end of the path that are often used in the Spring.
