The Leipheimer Moos is a beautiful moorland with wide areas for Rohrweihe as well as the rare Wachtelkönig, Wiesenschafstelze, Feldschwirl and migratory Wiesenpieper. In the reed areas north of the border ditch Blaukehlchen likes to sing, in the cattle pastures Schwarzkehlchen and along the boardwalk circuit (the boardwalk itself is unfortunately closed) Wendehals, Nachtigall, Bekassine, Kiebitz, Dorngrasmücke, Kuckuck, Fasan and Schwarzspecht can be heard or seen.
Also worth a visit in autumn/winter when there are Kornweihe, Raubwürger, Sumpfohreule, Bläßgans and Kranich.

The Leipheimer Moos is located in north of the town of Günzburg. The area is perfect to explore by bike and on foot. You can park your car south of the area at the Herdweg parking area in Leipheim. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking. The Herdweg area provides convenient access to the moor and its hiking trails.
