Jröne Meerke (little green sea) is a small park with a pond at the north-western edge of the city of Neuss. It contains the only Western European colony of Schneegans. Depending on the season there are also numerous other waterfowl, such as Reiherente, Stockente, Schnatterente, Zwergtaucher, Kormoran, Teichhuhn or Bläßhuhn. There are many trees and a small forest in the park that host numerous songbirds, including Singdrossel, Misteldrossel, Kleiber, Buchfink, Stieglitz, Grünfink, Rotkehlchen, Blaumeise, Kohlmeise and many more. If you want to see the Schneegans, you should come in the early morning or before sunset as the geese often go out to the surrounding fields for feeding.
