Beschreibung
The Hemmelsdorfer See is a lake that has many different water birds, depending on the time of year. Breeding birds include Höckerschwan, Schnatterente, Bläßhuhn and Haubentaucher. Other birds that are observerd regularly are Eisvogel, Seeadler, Rohrweihe, Teichrohrsänger, Drosselrohrsänger, Blaukehlchen and Bartmeise. During migration you can observe birds like Zwergmöwe, Fischadler, Trauerseeschwalbe and Tafelente.
Coolest one I've seen were Zwergsäger in winter and I heard Pirol in the trees in summer. The boardwalk goes out into the lake and along the reeds. Also great spot for landscape photography.

The Hemmelsdorfer See is located north of Lübeck in the immediate vicinity of the Baltic Sea. The restaurant has a small parking lot, in which you can get a spot very early in the morning. . Otherwise there is a free, public parking area available a little further down the road, which I marked as the trail head. Click on a P in the map for directions.
