Beschreibung
The Geflügelmastanlagen und Kiesgrube Oppin area is characterised by industrial use. Gravel and sand pits and storage, and, in dark irony for a birding website: industrial poultry production sites. It is surrounded by agricultural land and to the west some uncultivated grassland.
The poultry buildings are fenced off and the vegetation is kept short. This seems to be one of the reasons why Haubenlerche breeds here. In the bushes along the roadside Feldsperling, Dorngrasmücke, Grauammer and Bluthänfling can be observed. In the fields around the site Wiesenschafstelze, Fasan and Feldlerche are a regular sight. During migration Steinschmätzer and Flußregenpfeifer visit the barren gravel areas.
Note: The premises of the companies in the area can not be entered under any circumstances! It is only possilbe to watch from the outside. Therefore binoculars or even a scope are recommended.
On the way to the poultry premises from the parking spot on the map, keep your eyes open for overflying Bienenfresser, Turmfalke and other birds of prey.
