Beschreibung
The Favoritepark is a protected nature reserve in Ludwigsburg. The park mainly consists of open grass fields and forest and surrounds Schloss Favorite, a small palace once used by the former dukes and kings of Württemberg as a ‘pleasure palace’ and hunting lodge.
Favoritepark is home to many common and uncommon forest birds, like Eichelhäher, Zaunkönig, Kleiber, Buntspecht, Mittelspecht, Grünspecht and more rarely; Schwarzspecht.
Around May, there is a chance to see Halsbandschnäpper. In summer, you can observe Gartenrotschwanz, Pirol, and Schwarzmilan. With some luck, you might even hear or spot a Waldkauz or a Grauspecht.

Favoritepark has entrances on the north, south, and east sides. Parking and a public transport (S-Bahn) station are located near the north entrance. Press P on the map for directions to the parking area. For public transport, take the S4 to Favoritepark station.
The park can be crossed in under an hour. The main path is paved and well maintained. Leaving this path is not permitted in most areas due to the risk of falling branches. A small pond, the Hirschquelle, can be visited via an unpaved forest trail.
The park opens at 9 am and closes between 4 pm and 7 pm, depending on the time of year. Dogs are not allowed in the park.
