Beschreibung
The three small ponds of Eichenberger Weiher, Speckweiher and Branderweiher are mainly used for fish farming and fishing. In addition to migrating waders, which can be observed from a short distance in the drained ponds, and numerous waterfowl species, the area is also home to open land species. A notable, but rare visitor is the Seeadler.
Part of the landscape between Muhr, Büchelberg and the Eichenberger Weiher (the Steingraben, including the nearby Kästleinsweiher) has been restored. Species such as Neuntöter, Dorngrasmücke and Klappergrasmücke could benefit.

Zugang
Eichenberger Weiher can be easily and ecologically reached and explored by bike from Altmühlsee, Muhr or Büchelberg. The area is located on the Brunnen-Quellen-Weiherweg, a cycle path, as well as on the long-distance hiking trail ‘Der Seeländer’. If travelling by car or bicycle, take the second road on the right after leaving Büchelberg. There is limited parking available at the end of this road. In the area, I recommend following the trail 'Teichlehrpfad Haundorf'.
