The Bordelumer Heide with its many habitats ranging from spruce forests and little ponds to heathland, provides a home to different bird species. In the forest you can find birds such as Grauschnäpper, Haubenmeise and Waldbaumläufer. The ponds and the surrounding reed are habitats for Teichrohrsänger, Graugans and Eisvogel. Where the area is more open you can hear Baumpieper sing in spring. Kuckuck, Goldammer, Alpenbirkenzeisig and Schwarzkehlchen are also breeding in the heath areas. A Wanderfalke breeds near by in the radiotower. Sometimes Seeadler are flying over the area to hunt at the coastline.

Zugang
The nearest trainstation is located in Langenhorn. From there it is possible to walk but it is more convenient to take a bike. There are parkingplaces along the mainroad from where you can access the area by foot. Click on a P in the map for directions. The circular route on the map is about 5 km.
