The Altes Feld (Old Field) near Dainrode was the largest Hessian resting place for Kiebitz in the 1970s with daily maximums (resting population) of around 14,000. Up to 600 Goldregenpfeifer. Rare Mornellregenpfeifer. Large numbers of raptors, sometimes over 50 Rotmilan and 100 Mäusebussard. The Raufußbussard is an occasional migrant and winter guest. In the cold winter of 86/87 up to 20 individuals. Kornweihe, Rohrweihe, Merlin and Schneeammer regularly. Sometimes Kranich rest, often thousands of them migrating. Maximum numbers: Feldlerche 10,000, Wacholderdrossel 10,000, Rotdrossel 6,000, Star 200,000, Wiesenpieper 2,000.
