At the river Ahr are breeding Flußregenpfeifer and Eisvogel. In the floodplains are meadows, forests and a little reedbed. In the meadows are breeding Steinkauz (10 territories in 2020). Neuntöter and Feldschwirl are possible breeding birds. In the forests are breeding Nachtigall , Pirol and Mittelspecht. You can also see Schwarzmilan and Baumfalke during breeding time. In the little reedbed are Teichrohrsänger and Sumpfrohrsänger (also common next to the Ahr). Orpheusspötter and Gelbspötter can also be found in the area.
During migration, you can see migratory birds like Fischadler and Waldwasserläufer. In winter you can see some wintering birds like Wasseramsel.

Zugang
There is a train station in Linz (direct connections to Cologne and Koblenz), from where you have to cross the Rhine with the ferry to Kripp. Another train station is in Sinzig (direct connections to Bonn and Koblenz) from where you can go directly to the meadows at the southern edge of the area.
You can park in Kripp (follow the B9 until Kripp). The walking route you see on the map is about 7 km.
