Going up Gabrielle Creek is particularly interesting, because of its beauty and the different environments it crosses (mangrove, riparian forest, grassy marsh, flooded forest). A small tributary of the Gabrielle creek provides access (only in the rainy season) to the magnificent Pali Lake, located in the Kaw marshes nature reserve. Note that this trip can only be done by boat. Among the birds you can observe are Agami Heron, Rufescent Tiger-Heron, Green Ibis, Rufous Crab Hawk, Black-collared Hawk, Black Caracara, Hoatzin, Sunbittern, Wattled Jacana, Red-bellied Macaw, Green Kingfisher, Amazon Kingfisher, Ringed Kingfisher, Green-tailed Jacamar, Pied Water-Tyrant, White-headed Marsh Tyrant, Black-capped Donacobius, Fork-tailed Woodnymph, Russet-crowned Crake, Piratic Flycatcher, Yellow-rumped Cacique, Least Grebe, Green-and-rufous Kingfisher, Sungrebe, Golden-collared Woodpecker, Black-and-white Hawk-Eagle, Black-throated Mango, White Hawk, Gray-headed Kite, Bat Falcon, Green Aracari, Blue-headed Parrot, Black-necked Aracari, Spotted Tody-Flycatcher, Blue Dacnis, Riverbank Warbler, Ash-throated Crake, Short-tailed Parrot, Little Cuckoo, Spot-breasted Woodpecker, Blue-tailed Emerald and Crimson Topaz.

La remontée de la crique Gabrielle est particulièrement intéressante, en raison de sa beauté et des différents milieux qu’elle traverse (mangrove, forêt ripicole, marais herbacé, forêt inondée). Un petit affluent de la crique Gabrielle permet de rejoindre (uniquement en saison des pluies) le magnifique lac Pali, situé sur la réserve naturelle des marais de Kaw.

Gabrielle Creek is located in the commune of Roura. You can access it either from Dégrad du Mahury (at the foot of the bridge which spans this river) or from Dégrad Eskol which you reach by the RD 6. It is imperative to have with either a canoe or a boat or a kayak to do this route. Also pay attention to tide times.

On peut y accéder soit à partir du Dégrad du Mahury (au pied du pont qui enjambe ce fleuve) soit à partir de Dégrad Eskol que l’on rejoint par la RD 6.
