Neuvry is a very good spot for waterbirds, and also for local rarities. Schwarzkopfmöwe and Lachmöwe breed in small numbers, as do Kolbenente , Reiherente and Schwarzhalstaucher. Kuhreiher, Silberreiher and Seidenreiher are all regular. Waders are quite common in stopover, especially Tringa sandpipers. Zwergschnepfe winters in the area.
Zwergmöwe , Weißbart-Seeschwalbe, Trauerseeschwalbe and Fischadler are regular. This also a good place for ducks in migration period. Among the recent rarities are Teichwasserläufer , Rallenreiher , Eisente , Rothalstaucher , Temminckstrandläufer and Küstenseeschwalbe.

Zugang
The gravel pit is located directly north of the village of Neuvry. By car only (no train station around). You can go first to the western bird hide, and then walk along the eastern shore of the lake on the dirt road. Be careful, driving is forbidden on the dirt road around the lake, you're in a Natural Reserve, you may be fined. The circular walking route is about 4,5 km.
