Beschreibung
Vuosaaren Huippu is an old landfill that has been made into a beautiful nature area over the years. This particular spot is popular among birders and has good space to set one's telescope as it provides a view to multiple directions and is not directly in the way of other visitors. The hill is a great place to watch the migration of artic birds. It is also a great spot for watching the migration of birds of prey during autumn.
While great for observing birds that fly by, the surrounding bushes, grassy hills and nearby forest areas are also full of life during the warmer months and it's possible to see all kinds of local and migrating birds on them. Some birders have seen a few rarities from this hill as well. The whole hill area is a great place for birding and it's easy to spend a full day birdwatching when the weather is good.
A few examples of birds that can be seen on this spot: Steinadler, Seeadler, Fischadler, Mäusebussard, Sperber, Grauspecht, Kleinspecht, Habicht, Weißwangengans, Bläßgans, Saatgans, Graugans, Turmfalke, Singschwan, Rohrweihe, Schneeammer, Heckenbraunelle, Gimpel, Buntspecht, Goldammer, Schwanzmeise, Steinschmätzer, Gartenrotschwanz, Zilpzalp, Dorngrasmücke and Fitis.
