Beschreibung
The Porslahti communal gardens attract a variety of bird species in spring, summer and autumn. The regular Haussperling , Kohlmeise and Feldsperling are common birds in the gardens but it's also easy to come across birds like Fitis , Zilpzalp , Dorngrasmücke , Klappergrasmücke , Rotkehlchen, Zaunkönig and Stieglitz. Especially in late summer. Gartenrotschwanz , Braunkehlchen and Blaukehlchen have also been seen in the gardens during late summer and early autumn. Due to the high amount of small birds in the area, it's also possible to spot Sperber and Habicht hunting in the area.
The small foresty area next to the gardens can also surprise birders positively. In autumn and winter time, the forest can attract berry eating birds like Gimpel , Wacholderdrossel and Amsel. Wintergoldhähnchen likes to hunt for insects in the coniferous trees throughout the year and Grauspecht, Waldbaumläufer and Schwanzmeise have been seen in the area as well.
As an added bonus, the gardens themselves are also lovely to look at when flowers are in full bloom and vegetables start to grow. Please be mindful when visiting and photographing to not disturb the gardeners too much to make birders welcome in the future too. While the paths around the gardens are public space the gardens themselves are off limits and should not be entered.
