Beschreibung
The nature reserve Vejlerne covers about 6000 hectares. In Vejlernes you can see almost all waders living in Scandinavia, ducks, gulls, terns, Kranich and now and then a very rare bird. The area has large reedbeds and 1/3 is open water. Vejlerne has the largest Danish breeding population of Rohrdommel, Knäkente, Tüpfelsumpfhuhn, Wasserralle, Säbelschnäbler, Trauerseeschwalbe and Bartmeise. Furthermore the reserve is among the few places in the country where Löffler and Zwergmöwe can be seen. There is a free view almost everywhere, no tall trees and the land is flat. But it's not only a migration area, its a good place for birds to live and eat. There is an information centre and several birdwatchtowers (see the map for information centre). More than 300 bird species have been registered in the reserve, 130 of which have bred here.
