Forest birds as warblers, thrushes, tits, flycatchers, treecreepers and woodpeckers are more numerous here, and streambirds include kingfisher. Bird species: Eisvogel, Schwarzspecht, Gartenbaumläufer and Schwanzmeise (yearround); Wasseramsel(winter and early spring); and Gebirgsstelze and Waldlaubsänger (spring and summer). More than 120 bird species registered in https://dofbasen.dk/
For a longer stroll take a walk north along the lake for more birding and culture heritage, or continue up beyond the gorge to check the heath area (Stanghede) for Neuntöter and Braunkehlchen.
Bring a telescope only if you want to look far out on the lake.
A playground is nearby and up the road is a nature school.

Park by the restaurant Niels Bugge Kro, or by the Nature School to the north. Walk the area (the walking trail on the map is about 4 km). Some paths can be slippery in wet conditions.
