Beschreibung
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Zwergdommel (the only location of this species in Prague), Rohrschwirl, Wasserralle, Drosselrohrsänger, Teichrohrsänger, Teichhuhn or Rohrammer. Also the Rohrweihe is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Haubentaucher, Bläßhuhn, Stockente and a few pairs of Tafelente and Reiherente. In the linked rural areas breed Neuntöter, Feldschwirl, Nachtigall and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Uferschwalbe.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Blaukehlchen, Braunkehlchen, Schwarzkehlchen, Trauerschnäpper, Knäkente and many other species of waterfowl, Bekassine, Kiebitz and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Star murmuration. Also Rauchschwalbe and Wiesenschafstelze come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!
