Beautiful nature reserve and cape with many hiking trails on the southernmost tip of the Istrian Peninsula.

Beschreibung

The Kamenjak peninsula is 3400 m long, between 500–1200 m wide and includes 30 km of coastline, beautiful bays and beaches. Many protected and endemic species such as: endemic orchids, butterflies, Mediterranean monk seal, crabs and more can be found. Also many birds. The Kamenjak area has beautiful nature, a blue sea and very nice hiking trails. Despite the tourism, there are very nice bird species to see! Typical marine species can be seen along the coast, such as Mittelmeermöwe, Krähenscharbe and Schwarzkopfmöwe. In the many shrubs on this peninsula, birds such as Samtkopf-Grasmücke, Neuntöter, Turteltaube and Pirol can be observed. In the early twilight, a high chance of Zwergohreule. Also keep an eye out in the sky for flying Bienenfresser! Please note, entrance to the cape is approximately 4 euros per person.

Zugang

The entrance to the Kamenjak nature reserve is located at the only town on the peninsula, Premantura. Here you will also find the visitor center where you can find more information about the hiking trails, beaches and camping options on Cape Kamenjak. If you are by car, this is also the place where you can buy an entrance ticket. The nature reserve can be visited free of charge for pedestrians. By car you only pay € 5 per day for the car. It is also possible to come by bus, from the bus station in Pula bus 26 and 28 go to the town of Premantura.

Really a beautiful place to watch birds, make sure, in warm weather, that you come early in the morning. You can explore the area by car and make different stops of make a long walk. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 14 km, but it is easy easy to make it shorter. Don't forget to visit the 'istrian farm', where you can often find many birds. The farm is marked with a star on the map.
