Beschreibung

Como Lake Park is a great option for a short, relaxed birding expedition. The park consists of a 1 km loop trail around the lake. Several treed areas along its edges and in the surrounding grassy areas provide plenty of habitat for a wide variety of birds. Year-round residents include Canada goose, mallard, Anna's hummingbird, glaucous-winged gull, pied-billed grebe, double-crested cormorant, great blue heron, belted kingfisher, northern flicker, Steller's jay, American crow, black-capped chickadee, American robin, house finch, song sparrow, and spotted towhee.

In Spring, look for rufous hummingbird, osprey, bald eagle, downy woodpecker, western wood-pewee, warbling vireo, tree swallow, violet-green swallow, barn swallow, ruby-crowned kinglet, bushtit, Swainson's thrush, pine siskin, white-crowned sparrow, red-winged blackbird, northern yellow warbler, yellow-rumped warbler, and Wilson's warbler. Summer adds western flycatcher and cedar waxwing to the end of the migration period.

Fall-Winter is a good time to look for wood duck, bufflehead, green-winged teal, hooded merganser, common merganser, golden-crowned kinglet, varied thrush, fox sparrow, and American goldfinch.
